Gianna Tsakou has been working as project coordinator / analyst and researcher in EC and nationally funded IT research projects since 1999. She is currently holding a position as project manager / senior analyst of funded projects in SingularLogic S.A.
She received her Diploma in Linguistics from the University of Athens, having obtained a four-year scholarship for excellent performance from the Latsis Foundation. Since then, she has been involved in managing and implementing R&D projects for both public and private organisations. She has worked as a researcher and/or project coordinator in over 20 R&D projects, the majority of which in the fields of services for elderly independent living and accessibility for people with disabilities. During her professional career, she has also acquired expertise in design of user interfaces, personalising services, natural language processing and speech-enabled services, ontologies, argumentation-based systems, machine translation, data handling, digital libraries and eLearning services.
She was a member of the judging committee for the selection of the eInclusion awards at the European Ministerial e-Inclusion Conference 2008 and she is frequently acting as an expert evaluator and reviewer for 3 different Programmes of the EC.
