Antonios M. Politis, MD is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the 1st Department of Psychiatry, Eginition Hospital of National and Kapodistrian University in Athens and Director of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry (DGP) located at the same institution. In addition, he is part-time faculty member, Division of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Baltimore, USA. He is also Instructor and supervisor on Cognitive Therapy Training program.
Dr Politis studied at the Medical School in Genova, Italy and he began a psychiatry residency at 1st Department of Psychiatry, Eginition Hospital of National and Kapodistrian University in Athens.
Dr Politis is a member of several professional organizations including Hellenic Psychiatric Association, Hellenic Association of Biological Psychiatry, Hellenic American Psychiatric Association (HAPA), International College of Geriatric Psychoneuropharmacology and the Hellenic Psychogeriatric Association of which is founding Member and vice-president.
Dr Politis has received research grants to serve as principal investigator on studies involving research on the application of telematics in psychiatry. He has authored or co-authored 30 original publications in highly esteemed journals on topics ranging from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease to geriatric depression and genetics. His articles have been published in journals such as the International Psychogeriatrics, International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, International Journal of Alzheimer Disease, Schizophrenia Research, Journal of Alzheimer Disease and Journal of ECT.
