Jim Phillips currently works as a specialist consultant in self management working with clients both in the UK and abroad and is a Executive Director for The Quality Institute for Self Management Education and Training (QISMET).
He has a background in psychotherapy with specific interests in experiential and transpersonal based therapies and has worked extensively with clients with long term health conditions and addictions.
He has provided advice to the Department of Health in England on self care approaches and was a member of the Expert Patient Programme Task Force. He played an instrumental role in of the working party and led the establishment of the Expert Patient Programme across the NHS.
He has worked with health educators from Kaiser Permanente and leading developers in Australia and Europe.
Over the last 10 years he has continued to design, develop and evaluate a range of self management programmes for a wide range of long term conditions in the UK and internationally.
