Albert Alonso, MD, PhD, trained at the University of Barcelona where he also developed his doctoral work obtaining his PhD degree in 1992. Additionally he holds a postgraduate degree on Management and Organisation of Information Systems by the University Pompeu Fabra (1996).
Currently he works at the Innovation Directorate of Hospital Clinic as Head of Area of Care process efficiency and ICT integration. His main lines of work focus on the definition, evaluation and deployment of new models of health care provision with a special emphasis in integrated care models that use ICT; evaluation methodologies for integrated care and ICT and Health Technology Assessment. He has participated in numerous R&D projects since 1997.
He is a regular lecturer in pre-graduate and post-graduate courses. He is Vice-chair, Secretary and founder of the International Foundation for Integrated Care and also Secretary of the Catalan Society for Clinical Documentation.
