Antonio Addis is PhD in in pharmacological research with a long time research experience at national (Institute for Pharmacological Research “Mario Negri” Milano, Italy) and international (Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Hospital for Sick Children; University of Toronto, Toronto Canada) level. Researcher at the Centre for the Evaluation of Effectiveness and Health Care (CeVEAS).
Since 1991 he has published several scientific papers and has conducted research in pharmacoepidemiology and drug information. From 2000 to 2009 head of the Office for Drug Information of the Directorate General for Drug Evaluation and pharmacovigilance of the Ministry of Health which later became the Italian Drug Agency (AIFA).
He was Scientific Director of the national Drug Therapeutic Bulletin (BIF) from 2002 to 2009 and responsible for scientific publishing activities and continuing medical education programme of AIFA. From 2009 to 2011 he was seconded to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in London as a National Expert at the Pharmacovigilance Unit, Risk Management Section.
Currently he serves as coordinator for the Governance of Research at the Regional Social and Health Agency of Emilia Romagna where he is in charge for the activity for the identification, the financing, and the monitoring of clinical research proposals granted with regional health funds.
He has held several roles of institutional representation on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Italian Drug Agency at national and international level such as the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), the World Health Organization (WHO) and currently the Technical and Scientific Commission AIFA.
Antonio Addis is coordinator for the Emilia Romagna Region – Reference Site for European Innovation Partnership- Active Health Ageing.
