The second Greek eHealth Ecosystem Meeting took place on 28 January 2014 at the NJV Athens Plaza Hotel with the participation of representatives from the entire spectrum of public and academic bodies, private sector organisations active in the field of electronic health applications as well as patient group representatives and many others.
In the first meeting, the role of the eHealth ecosystem as a decisive contributor to the reform of healthcare and to the building of synergies was discussed extensively. Also, the transition from pilot projects to eHealth services in the everyday clinical practice was analysed, with a special mention on the importance of international affiliations aiming to the exchange of best practices, especially for the care of patients with chronic diseases and the active and healthy ageing.
On January 28, the meeting focused on the priorities and the development of the national eHealth strategy. Also, ways of funding innovation such as the HORIZON 2020 Programme and CSF Funds were investigated.The experience of international initiatives that boost the development of servicesfor ageing well was analysed, such as the French Silver Economy. Additionally, shining eHealth services were investigated, such as the electronic health record system, to improve the future of the healthcare setting.
Finally, the priorities of the Greek eHealth ecosystem, areas of best practice and areas of challenge, and opportunities for collaboration through the already established International Network of ecosystemswere discussed.
The programme comprised selected presentations from Greece and abroad on key issues, such as the electronic health record system and the policies for active and healthy ageing.
